travel theme: couples

Ailsa’s travel themed challenge this week is “couples”. Here are some of my couples:

camels and their handlers at the camel wrestling in Turkey

one man and his dog

03-12 walking the water buffalo
one man and his water buffalo take an evening stroll along the beach in Koh Samui, Thailand

at the Jurong bird park in Singapore

pink dolphins at the aquarium in Singapore

a couple of white flowers – if anyone knows what they are I’d love to know – they also come in red and pink and, I think, are eaten as a vegetable in Thailand

  1. Great shots. That last photo is of a corkwood tree flower. It is edible, but it has a slight bitter taste to it, something I am not fond of. My grandma used to serve them as a salad.

    • We call it katuray in Filipino. Thank you for giving me the English name. There is a stiff filament/stamen inside the flower that you are supposed to remove before cooking so you won’t have that bitter taste, otherwise the flower is sweet and really good for salad with just tomatoes and salt or a bit of vinegar.

    • thank you for that, I’ve always wanted to know what they are called

  2. Awww great pictures!

  3. Ingenious coupling! 🙂 Very nice.
