DP photo challenge: beneath your feet

Last week I took this photo without knowing that “beneath your feet” was to be the subject of a DP photo challenge. It’s carved into the pavement in Blandford Forum, Dorset, UK.

After you’ve read the words through, go back and read from the end to the beginning. You might be surprised.

DP weekly photo challenge: on the way

Like Michelle I always have a camera with me – I never know when photographic inspiration will strike and I like to be prepared.

Earlier this year we went to Myanmar. We to flew to Yangon and then on to Bagan. From there we took the proverbial slow boat to Mandalay. We flew from Mandalay to Heho to visit Lake Inle and then flew back to Mandalay. In between flights there were plenty of sights to see on the way:

arrival by boat at our hotel

Part of our trip involved staying on the lake Inle where we had to travel by long-tailed boat to get to our hotel. Apart from seeing other long tail boats, the local fishermen obligingly posed, balanced on one leg, for photos with their cone-shaped fishing nets

DP photo challenge: Hanoi in motion

20140305_0515-motor-cyclist
there are so many motorcyclists in Hanoi that it would be difficult not to capture at least one of them in motion! Invariably they zoom into your field of view just as you depress the shutter ….

judging by the size of the pot he’s carrying, this lad is moving in slow motion, maybe?

DP-photo-challenge: ephemeral

These beautiful flowers have fallen off a tree which only flowers at night (found in Thailand). By 9am all the flowers have fallen to the ground so that only the early birds get to appreciate their beauty, ephemeral indeed.

Ephemeral things last but an instant but can cause lasting impressions or memories. It’s wonderful to be able to capture them on film/digital media so that they can be appreciated long afterwards.

Daily Post weekly photo challenge: rule of thirds

Using the ‘rule of thirds’ is the best way to compose a great shot, where the focal point is not in the dead centre of the photo.
